KENÉ STORE

CRAFT IS THE STORYTELLER OF CULTURE

Long ago, crafts were a form of currency, where peoples traded their goods along with their food crops and medicines.

Over time, this exchange began to dissolve and economy began to impact Indigenous cultures away from society.
Despite the challenges, artisans continue to persevere and preserve their culture through craft.

Made entirely by hand, the artisans featured in our Kené Store have protected the
traditional techniques from generations backwards to generations forward.

They have learned their skill share from their long lived line of ancestors and are devoted to teaching their children to carry their trade onward.

Women dedicate their lives to crafting their culture into being. Fibers are spun and dyed by hand with natural materials of the Earth. Clay is harvested from the local deposits and fired the ancient way. Weavings take months to weft and warp. Symbols represent the original wisdom safe kept by the elders and translated onto sacred ceremonial offerings.

By purchasing the crafts of the Shipibo Martinez-Panduro lineage,
you are contributing to the preservation of their culture
and the legacy of their direct family lineage.

ALL OFFERINGS ARE ONE OF A KIND.
